3 Pieces Of Advance To Help You Succeed In Massage Therapy School

As a massage therapist, you are going to undergo many hours of training. Not all of your training in massage therapy is about learning the bodywork; it is about the coursework as well.

#1 Review Every Night

Every night, take at least fifteen minutes per class that you are taking to review what you are learning. As a massage therapist, you are going to have to learn a lot of detailed information about anatomy and physiology. All that information can be overwhelming if you try to cram remembering it into one night.

To really retain the information, you should review everything that you learned in your class ever night, regardless of if that evening is a "school night" or not. Set aside at least one hour every day to review the material you are learning. This will help you retain all the detailed information you need to not only pass your classes but be an effective massage therapist in the future as well.

#2 Get Some Coloring Books

Have some fun as you learn all the different anatomies you will have to memorize throughout your course of study. Purchase some adult coloring books that focus on the different areas of anatomy. You can find a wide variety of color books that are designed to teach one about different muscle groups, nervous system, and other areas of health you will be studying.

You can make the coloring even more challenging by color-coding the pictures based on things such as the way you would treat each muscle or the function of the muscle. This can be a fun way to learn the more technical information you will need to learn for your massage license.

#3 Find Someone To Talk To

Being able to talk about subjects and explain the subject in-depth can be useful to the learning process. Try to find students who are willing to get together to talk and discuss what you are learning. Write up questions and topics for your get together so that you have helpful discussions. Explaining what you are learning can really help you internalize the information you are learning, and one of your classmates may have picked up on something that you missed in the course.

Being a massage therapist is not just about the bodywork. You also have to learn about the body as well. One of the best ways to learn about the body is by going over what you are supposed to learn every day, finding fun ways to take in that information, and discussing what you are learning with others. Don't expect the bookwork to be easy to become a massage therapist. You are going to have to put in a lot of work and time on the classwork that will accompany the techniques and bodywork you will learn.

About Me

bi-weekly massages to reclaim a mother's sanity

One massage every two weeks is all that it took for me to reclaim my sanity. As the mother of four kids, I was getting lost in all that I have to do to take care of the kids each day. Throw in the two dogs, three cats and our family tea-cup micro pig, and I had next to no time for myself. Three years ago, my husband bought me a gift card for a local massage therapist, and after going to that first session, I haven't stopped going back. The 60 minutes I spend getting all of my stress rubbed away has improved my life, my kids lives and even the pets are taken care of a little better.
